Ammon News - A Jordanian economic delegation has embarked on a working visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to explore new avenues for trade and investment cooperation and to gain insights from Dubai’s renowned experience in organizing the Dubai Shopping Festival, which has been a hallmark event for 30 years.
The delegation, led by Amman Chamber of Commerce President Khalil Al-Haj Tawfiq, includes Vice President Nabil Al-Khatib, Board Member Falah Al-Sugair, Deputy General Manager Bashar Muqbil, and Public Relations Manager Salem Al-Atyat. The visit, which will span several days, aims to promote Jordan’s investment opportunities and strengthen bilateral economic ties.
Meetings are scheduled with leaders and directors of commercial chambers in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah, as well as with the CEO of the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment under Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism. A key highlight of the visit will be signing a memorandum of understanding with the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce to bolster economic, trade, and investment relations.
Al-Haj Tawfiq emphasized that the visit aligns with the Chamber’s efforts to position Amman as a destination for Arab shopping festivals. Plans are underway to launch an annual shopping festival in the Jordanian capital starting this summer, drawing inspiration from Dubai’s success with its shopping festival. The initiative aims to boost commercial and tourism activities, attract investments and international brands, and create employment opportunities for Jordanian youth.
Trade statistics from Jordan’s Department of Statistics reveal that trade exchanges between Jordan and the UAE reached JD 997 million during the first 10 months of the previous year. This underscores the strong economic ties between the two nations and the potential for further collaboration. Petra
