Electricity demand surges as heatwave intensifies

Ammon News - Amidst scorching temperatures and a relentless heatwave, the demand for electricity has soared, reaching remarkable heights in recent days.

On Wednesday, the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) reported that the evening electricity load peaked at 3600 megawatts on Tuesday, with the morning load not far behind at 3350 megawatts.

This surge in electricity consumption comes as the nation grapples with an unyielding summer heatwave. The highest electricity load registered this summer reached 3700 megawatts, closely approaching the peak of 3850 megawatts recorded in August 2022.

Assuring the public of its capabilities, NEPCO asserted its readiness to meet the escalating demand for electricity. With the meticulous execution of appropriate operational plans and the seamless preparedness of power generation stations, transmission stations, and the overall power grid, the company aims to accommodate the expected surge in electricity consumption during the scorching summer season.
