PM welcomes WHO regional director

Ammon News - Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh onThursday received Regional Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) Ahmed Al-Mandhari.

During the meeting, the premier emphasized the strong collaboration between Jordan and the WHO, which proved to be highly effective during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Khasawneh thanked the Organization for the assistance it provides to Jordan, which backs government efforts to strengthen the health system in Jordan, and hoped that such aid will continue and increase.

Al-Mandhari said Jordan has made great strides in the health field, making outstanding achievements in eliminating many communicable diseases.

Additionally, he commended Jordan for its handling of the pandemic, as the country was one of the first in the region and the world to administer vaccinations to its citizens, emphasizing that Jordan sets a great example in managing health crises.

Al-Mandhari spoke about a host of activities and projects carried out by the WHO in Jordan to bolster healthcare services.
