Ammon News - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi has warned of the catastrophic consequences of the Israeli aggression on the West Bank city of Jenin.

During a phone call on Monday with Hussein Al-Sheikh, secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Safadi urged the international community to take swift and decisive action to put an end to such practices, and to provide protection for the Palestinian people.

Safadi denounced the Israeli aggression on Jenin, warning that it could lead to further escalation. Additionally, he emphasized that the repeated Israeli attacks on the occupied Palestinian territories would only serve to exacerbate tensions, fueled by the illegitimate Israeli measures that undermine the two-state solution and erode hope for achieving a just and comprehensive peace.

Furthermore, he called on Israel to cease all unilateral actions, including the invasion of Palestinian cities, settlement activities, land confiscation, and economic siege on the Palestinian economy, urging Israel to engage in serious negotiations aimed at ending the occupation and resolving the conflict based on the two-state solution as the only way to prevent further deterioration.

Safadi and Al-Sheikh highlighted the significance of Israel's commitment to its responsibilities as the occupying power, adherence to signed agreements, and fulfillment of its obligations in the Aqaba and Sharm Al-Sheikh meetings.

They stressed that the Israeli practices that perpetuate the occupation and the lack of political solutions are responsible for the serious deterioration in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The officials also delved into ways to jointly address the dangerous Israeli escalation and the threat it poses to security in the region, both domestically and internationally.
