Tourism minister participates in 22nd WTTC Global Summit in Riyadh

Ammon News - Deputizing for His Majesty King Abdullah II, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Nayef Fayez participated in the 22nd Global Summit of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), currently held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

"The tourism sector can better support the people in the community if it is in a vital state," Fayez said in a dialogue session on comprehensive and supportive work ecosystem, held on the sidelines of the WTTC.

He stressed the need to maintain the viability and momentum of the sector as it was in 2019, in addition to ensuring its growth so that all segments of society, including women, people with disabilities and local communities, can benefit from.

He said that His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, pay great attention to the tourism sector, and have always directed the government to develop and diversify the tourism product, strengthen partnership with the private sector, and join efforts between the concerned authorities to maintain the sustainability of the tourism sector and enhance its competitiveness.

Fayez highlighted key measures taken by the Jordanian government to maintain the sustainability of the tourism sector and protect its workers during the response period to the Covid-19 pandemic and in its recovery phase.

Under the theme "Travel for a Better Future", the summit will discuss future challenges affecting the travel and tourism sector after the Covid-19 pandemic.

Senior officials and industry leaders, including former United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, will meet at the summit.
