28-11-2022 04:12 PM

Ammon News - Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply and Minister of Labor Youssef Shamali called for establishing joint projects with South Korea that employ the technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The minister made the remarks at the opening of a symposium on the Fourth Industrial Revolution's present and future that was jointly organized by the Korean Embassy in Amman and the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply in honor of the 60th anniversary of the start of diplomatic relations between Jordan and Korea.

Since 1962, Jordan and South Korea have been committed to working together in a number of areas of shared interest, particularly in the areas of energy, communications, water, and community and youth empowerment, the minister said.

Shamali referred to South Korea's substantial experience with the fourth industrial revolution's applications and noted that Jordan, which is rapidly advancing with digital transformation, might profit from this knowledge, which includes greener automobiles, information technologies, and 5G networks.

Regarding digital transformation, the minister noted that the Kingdom has emerged as a pioneer in the Middle East and North Africa region when it comes to fostering innovation, expanding job opportunities, and developing digital and information systems. It has also served as a hub for some of the biggest international businesses in this sector.

In addition, he noted that Jordan has emerged as one of the top nations for competent experts in information technology, artificial intelligence, cyber-security, and other areas connected to the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The Jordanian government established the "Jordanian Policy for Artificial Intelligence" and created the "National Charter for Artificial Intelligence Ethics," which addresses the best application of artificial intelligence technologies, in recognition of the significance of the industrial revolution and its role in enhancing lives and achieving sustainable economic development.

He added that the government was committed to implementing initiatives for small and medium-sized businesses to enhance the capabilities of entrepreneurs, facilitate access to financing sources, encourage them to adopt modern technologies for their businesses, and showcase their products and services through electronic commerce, with the goals of reducing production costs, maximizing resource utilization, increasing output and exports, achieving higher profit margins, and achieving greater competitiveness.

"We recognize Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies as a means to achieving these goals, and we look forward to using the 60th anniversary of Jordan-Korea diplomatic relations as a new beginning in building a Jordanian-S.Korean partnership to establish joint projects that employ Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies," Shamali said.

Korean Ambassador Lee Jae-wan, for his part, emphasized the importance of joint action to increase cooperation between the two countries in various fields and fully leverage Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies in light of the opportunities available in both Jordan and South Korea.
