Minister of Agriculture, Khaled Hneifat, and his Brazilian counterpart Marcos Montes on Sunday agreed on increasing the exchange of agricultural products between the two countries.

In a meeting held between the two ministers, Hneifat said that despite the scarcity of resources, the Kingdom exports its agricultural products to more than 60 countries in the world and is a partner in achieving global food security, which needs concerted efforts to achieve due to the prolonged crises in the world and their impact on food.

He expressed his hope that this visit will contribute to increasing trade exchange between the two countries, and encourage the Brazilian side to import high-quality Jordanian products such as dates, olive oil and fertilizers.

For his part, the Brazilian minister reaffirmed his country's openness to cooperation with the Kingdom, indicating its keenness to increase Jordanian exports of fertilizers, dates and olive oil in the coming period.

In the meeting, coordination was made for a delegation from the Jordanian private sector to visit Brazil next week to participate in examining markets in both countries.

The Brazilian delegation visited the National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC) , the Jordan Cooperative Corporation (JCC), major fertilizer companies and private sector institutions in the Kingdom to enhance joint cooperation and raise the volume of Jordanian exports to the Brazilian market.

A number of issues related to livestock, such as veterinary health certificates and regulatory instructions, were also discussed.
