PM directs public institutions to ensure 'utmost' readiness during weather conditions

Ammon News - Prime Minister, Dr. Bisher Khasawneh, directed all ministries and public departments to take the "highest" levels of preparedness to deal with weather conditions, in a way that preserves citizens' safety and maintains operations of vital and service institutions and hospitals.

Speaking at a meeting with a number of ministers on Wednesday, at the Prime Ministry, Khasawneh stressed the importance of "full" coordination among operation rooms, formed by ministries and relevant institutions round the clock.

The PM also called on orchestrating efforts to sustain work of hospitals and vital and service institutions during weather conditions and secure necessary services for citizens in all the Kingdom's governorates.

Calling on hospitals to be ready to receive emergency cases and dialysis patients, Khasawneh stressed the need to check on preparedness of electric and backup generators and ensure a sufficient oxygen supply round the clock in hospitals that receive Covid-19 patients.

The PM also highlighted the importance of ensuring basic commodities stock in markets and bakeries, and availability of gasoline and kerosene at various fuel stations countrywide.

In addition, the PM called on securing citizens living next to valleys, in light of flood alerts, with focus on Syrian refugee camps, calling on competent authorities to provide alternative caravan shelters in case water level rises.

The PM urged citizens to stay at their homes unless for absolutely necessary reasons, to preserve their safety and facilitate work of government field teams to open roads, provide basic services and avoid impeding operations of vital institutions in such circumstances.

The PM also stressed the need to pay attention to tourists in the Kingdom and provide assistance to them in emergency cases and ensure their safety, especially in areas witnessing snowfall or road closures.
