Ammon News - A new depression is expected to bring rain on Wednesday in much of the highlands across the Kingdom. The Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) did not rule out the possibility of spotty snowfall in the mountainous regions, particularly in the southern range.

Nighttime temperatures will continue to tumble below the freezing point, bringing biting cold throughout the remainder of the week. The highs are not expected to go above 4 degrees Celsius in the highlands. According to the JMD, current mercury levels are 5 to 7 degrees below seasonal average.

In the southern Sharah mountain range as well as Badia regions, the lows will slide to -5. In the Gulf of Aqaba and the Jordan Valley, including the Dead Sea, it will be much warmer with the highs in the 17 degrees Celsius vicinity. Still, chilly nights are ahead as mercury levels drop to 7 degrees in these regions.

As for its short term forecast, the JMD said although chilly weather is expected Monday and Tuesday, no chances of rainfall is forecast anywhere across the Kingdom. However, the department said it expects a wintery Wednesday with rainfall expected in the northern and central highlands, extending later in the day to southwestern parts of the Kingdom.

The JMD said the rainfall will continue through the early hours of Thursday, especially in the southwestern part of the Kingdom. Also, frost formation is expected in much of the Kingdom throughout the week.
