Ammon News - A wet and cold air mass accompanied by a depression will envelop the Kingdom on Wednesday, pushing temperatures to slightly below annual average, and bringing wintry conditions in most regions, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).

At night, clouds will build up at low altitudes, making a chance for scattered showers in the northern regions, with southwesterly strong gusts exceeding 50 km/hour and blowing dust in the Badia.

The weather department warned of slippery roads and flood formation in the areas experiencing rain, low-visibility during rainfall due to dust formation in badia areas and fog formation in mountainous areas.

On Thursday, cold weather conditions will continue to prevail countrywide, with clouds at low altitudes and a probability of rainfall in the northern and central regions, the JMD added.

The impact of the cold front is expected to taper off by Friday, as temperatures are forecast to slightly increase.

The highs in Amman and other highlands across Jordan today will range between 12 and 11 degrees Celsius, dropping at night to 7C or even 5C in the southern highlands. In the Gulf city of Aqaba, it will be warmer with mercury reaching a high of 22C and a low of 14C.
