The Ministry of Health said Saturday it has prepared an emergency and response plan, in preparation for the 20121-2022 winter season by raising its capabilities and readiness to the highest and required levels.
According to the plan, prepared by all ministry stakeholders, a strategic reserve of medicines, serums, vaccines and all related medical supplies will be provided across the Kingdom, a ministry statement said.
The plan will also ensure readiness of backup power generators and vehicles, especially ambulances and means of transport and communication, in preparation for receiving patients in weather conditions during the winter.
A committee, formed under the plan, to be in permanent session, and will be informing operating rooms to reinforce health locations with required needs at the level of medical and nursing staff and medical and technical supplies, the statement added.
The ministry seeks to develop a prior emergency plan to reflect the required preparations on ground by setting specific assumptions and stating tasks, duties and procedures required at all levels and highlighting the role of coordination and internal cooperation between other institutions and ministries in order to preserve the health and safety of citizens.
As part of its plan, the ministry allocated emergency phone numbers for citizens' inquiries, which are run by the ministry's main operations center to coordinate with committees and liaison officers in sub-centers in governorates and hospitals, in addition to allocating a hotline to contact the emergency operations center.
