Public Security Chief, French delegation discuss security ties

Ammon News - Public Security Director Maj. Gen. Hussein Hawatmeh Monday discussed with a French military delegation, headed by Director-General of the French Internal Security Forces and Defence Cooperation Maj. Gen. Thierry Marchand, security and military cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, which was attended by French ambassador Véronique Vouland-Aneini, Hawatmeh said that the Public Security Directorate looks forward to developing its performance and capabilities through reviewing best international practices and exchanging security expertise and know-how.
He stressed the importance of existing cooperation between Jordan and France in this field, which is "one aspect of the close relations between the two countries."
For his part, Marchand hailed the advanced level of the Jordanian Public Security Directorate and its professional role to maintain security and protect rights and freedoms, stressing keenness to strengthen cooperation, exchange expertise and build security and technical capabilities between the two countries.
The French team visited the Operations and Control Department and the Gendarmerie Forces Command, where they were briefed on their tasks and development.
