Ammon News - AMMAN – Jordan was elected as member of the Asian Compliance Committee of the Kyoto Protocol, said minister of environment.
Jordan also had been elected as member of the Kyoto Protocol's Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Executive Committee in Asia during Copenhagen Climate Change Conference, Environment Minister, Hazim Malhas said.
The minister, who took part in the deliberations of the conference, said Jordan had signed with the Secretariat General of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), a $81,000 grant agreement to finance and prepare studies on greenhouse gas emissions in the Kingdom.
Jordan had joined the international consensus to extend Kyoto Protocol, he noted, pointing out that developed countries showed commitment toward helping developing countries transfer environment-friendly technology.
