Ammon News -

The Amman Magistrates Court Monday convicted eight employees at an independent government unit of corruption, and sentenced two of them to seven months in jail.

The court found the employees guilty of the charges of abuse of public office and negligence of duty, and ordered seven of them to return JD11,000, the amount of damage to the treasury.

Another two convicts were sentenced to six-month prison terms, which was commuted to half after paying the amount and the fees and fines.

The others received four-month prison terms after amending the charges.

The court dropped the charge of squandering public money and acquitted one on the charge of theft for lack of evidence.
