The ministry said in a statement made available to ammonnews that a technical team visited the site after a video went viral on social media networks claiming the liquid was crude oil. It added that the team checked the liquid and found out that it is nothing but "bad-smelling water" composed of silt, mud and dissolved black salt.

Ammon News - A black liquid seen gushing from the ground on the Dead Sea shore is actually "bad smelling water" and not crude oil, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said on Monday.

The ministry said in a statement made available to ammonnews that a technical team visited the site after a video went viral on social media networks claiming the liquid was crude oil.

It added that the team checked the liquid and found out that it is nothing but "bad-smelling water" composed of silt, mud and dissolved black salt.
