16 Covid deaths, 438 cases Saturday, positive tests at 2.64 per cent

Sixteen coronavirus deaths and 438 infections were recorded across the Kingdom on Saturday, bringing the death toll from the pandemic to 10,669 and the total number of infections to 818,796, according to the Ministry of Health.

The positivity rate of virus tests for today was at 2.64 per cent, according to the daily media brief of the ministry.

It said that the number of currently active cases reached 12,295, with 52 being admitted today to hospitals and 44 Covid-19 patients discharged, and the number of confirmed cases receiving treatment in hospitals reached 484.

It said that the occupancy rate of isolation beds in the northern region was 8 per cent, intensive care beds 23 per cent and respirators 13 per cent.

In the Central region, the occupancy rate of isolation beds was 14 per cent, intensive care beds 26 per cent and respirators 9 per cent, it said.

In the southern region, it said, the occupancy rate of isolation beds was 8 per cent, intensive care beds 13 per cent and respirators 13 per cent.

The daily report said that 883 virus cases have recovered, bringing the total number of expected recoveries after the end of the 14-day isolation period to 795,832.

Further, it pointed out that 16,587 PCR tests were collected today, raising the test tally conducted since the start of the pandemic to 9,932,178.

It also showed that the number of people who got the first vaccine shot climbed to 366,813 and the number of the double-jabbed reached 3,235,830.
