Workshop held on drafting election-related legislation

Ammon News - The Legislation and Opinion Bureau, in cooperation with the Max Planck Foundation for International Peace & Rule of Law, on Monday organised a workshop on drafting election-related legislation in accordance with international constitutional principles.

Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs and Minister of State Musa Maaytah, who attended the opening of the event, highlighted the importance of the workshop in line with the Kingdom’s efforts towards a comprehensive reform.

Chargé d'Affaires at the German embassy Florian Reindel emphasised that Jordanian-German relations are progressing, noting that the new cooperation is meant to enhance the rule of law, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. The workshop covered the key concepts about electoral systems, current Jordanian electoral laws, electoral management bodies, in addition to gender equality-related issues and eligibility criteria for voters.
