Ammon News - Department of Antiquities (DoA) Acting Director, Hisham Abadi and The Jordan Museum head, Ihab Ammarin, discussed ways to orchestrate joint efforts to archive Jordan's museum pieces, preserve its cultural heritage, and promote museum attractiveness.

Speaking at the meeting, Abadi said the DoA will support and sustain the multi-purpose heritage-based project, and apply the experience to all museums countrywide.

The DoA has been working, in cooperation and partnership with German Protestant Institute of Archaeology (GPIA) in Amman, to document objects in Jordan Archaeological Museum in Jabla Qalah according to Documentation of Objects in Jordanian Archaeological Museums (DOJAM) for years, Abadi pointed out.

This project, he noted, has made "remarkable, important" steps in the documentation and archiving process.
In the next stage, Abadi said the DoA strategy aims to digitize and archive archaeological artifacts, and work with The Jordan Museum as a "strategic" partner that possesses expertise, which would contribute to enhancing the DoA's capabilities in this regard.

Ammarin, for his part, said discussions aim to create a comprehensive national database for all museum objects in the Kingdom, to "best" document, preserve and maintain these archeological collections.

On future action, the two officials agreed to form a joint technical committee to expedite this comprehensive national program.
