Jordanian-Egyptian ministerial joint meetings discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation

Meetings of the Ministerial Preparatory Committee of the 29th session of the Joint Jordan-Egypt Higher Committee, to be held on Tuesday and chaired by Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh and Egyptian counterpart, Mustafa Madbouly, were held on Monday.

Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Maha Ali, and Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat, chaired the ministerial meetings that were held via remotely via teleconference with the participation of a number of ministers and officials in both countries.

The committee discussed the outcomes of the technical committee meetings that were held over two consecutive days, headed by Secretary-General of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply Youssef Shamali and Tariq Shaarawi, advisor to the Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation.

Talks covered enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two brotherly countries in fields of trade, investment, energy, agriculture, transportation, work, food and medicine, customs cooperation, education, scientific research, digital economy, water, social development, culture, environment, tourism, consular, media, justice, judiciary, youth and sports.

Minister Ali said that the work of the preparatory committees resulted in preparing final drafts a number of memoranda of understanding and executive programs that will be signed at the end of the Higher Committee meetings, which will contribute to making a qualitative leap in the bilateral ties between Jordan and Egypt.

She lauded the deep-rooted and fraternal ties between Jordan and Egypt, under the direction of His Majesty King Abdullah and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

For her part, Al-Mashat affirmed her country's keenness to enhance and develop bilateral cooperation with Jordan in various fields, especially economic spheres, and to maximize benefits of available opportunities in a way that serves the common interests between the two countries.

She indicated the importance of holding meetings of the joint higher committee in order to enhance cooperation between the two brotherly countries, stimulate intra-trade and establish investments, in a way that would positively impact the two brotherly peoples.

The meetings were attended by ministers and senior officials form both countries.
