Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates inveighed Monday against Israel's approval to build more than 540 settler units in occupied East Jerusalem.
Spokesman of the Ministry Daifallah Fayez said that expanding settlements is illegal and condemned, and it constitute a flagrant violation of international law and the UN resolutions, chief of which is the UN Security Council Resolution 2334.
Israel's policies aimed at expanding settlements in the occupied Palestinian lands by expropriating lands and displacing Palestinians are illegal, Fayz emphasized, highlighting that they constitute a flagrant violation of international law and an attempt to undermine the bases of peace, and destroys any prospect of a settlement to the conflict on the bases of a two-state solution based on the pertinent international resolutions.
He called on the international community to assume their responsibilities and pressure Israel into stopping the policy of expanding settlements.
