Army foils infiltration, drug smuggling attempt

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The northern military command, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) and the Military Security Department, on Thursday foiled an attempt to smuggle a large amount of drugs into the Kingdom from Syria, a Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army source said.

The military source added that the rules of engagement were applied, after Border Guards spotted three persons who tried to infiltrate the borders, forcing them to retreat to Syria.

After searching the area, a number of bags containing 277,000 Captagon pills and around 16 palm-sized sheets of hashish were seized and referred to the concerned authorities, the source said.
