Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Brett McGurk, U.S. President Barack Obama's counter-Daesh envoy, told reporters that his country will continue to support Jordan as a bedrock of stability in the region, saying his country is working with the Kingdom to ensure that there are no threats on Jordan's borders.
In a press conference held at the U.S. embassy in Amman, McGurk said Jordan is a valued, important and strong ally in the fight against Daesh, indicating that the Kingdom is among the countries that established the counter-Daesh coalition.
He noted that a transparent investigation into the killing of three U.S. trainers in an airbase south of the Kingdom is being conducted by Jordanian authorities, assuring that the incident will not impact relations between the U.S. and Jordan.
McGurk said the global networks providing the terrorist organization with finance have been stopped and that now it has become difficult for recruits to enter Syria to join the terrorist group.
The U.S. envoy also said that the days of the leader of the terrorist organization, Abu Bakir al-Baghdadi, are "numbered". He also spoke about a U.S.-backed offensive to liberate Syria's Al-Raqqa Province from Daesh, and said the push has already started.
