Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordan has strongly condemned the continued Israeli violations against Al Aqsa Mosque/Haram Al Sharif, the last of which was the storming of Haram Al Sharif by a large number of Israeli forces yesterday and today, the attacks on worshippers and Awqaf staff, the use of rubber bullet and stun grenades inside Haram Al Sharif compound and putting restrictions on the entry of worshippers to the mosque.
In a statement on Monday , Minister of State for Media Affairs and Government Spokesperson Mohammad Momani, called for and immediate end to such provocative and unjustified measures, urging Israel, as the occupying power, to respect the status quo at Al Aqsa Mosque/Haram Al Sharif.
He said that these Israeli practices, that are totally rejected and condemned, contradict all international laws and conventions that guarantee freedom of worship and respect of holy sites.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh made direct contacts with Israeli officials, during which he voiced Jordan's condemnation and full rejection of the Israeli practices and called for an immediate end to them.
Momani said that Jordan, stemming from the Hashemite custodianship of Jerusalem's sacred places, will confront through all available diplomatic and legal means, all these Israeli violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites, mainly Al Aqsa Mosque and Haram Al Sharif, and will do its utmost to put an end to the Israeli practices.
"Contacts and continuing with the Israeli side to end all forms of violations against Al Aqsa Mosque/Haram Al Sharif, which we hope will end soon, the minister added.
Jordan, he added, urges the international community, to hold Israel, as the occupying power, fully responsible for what is happening in Jerusalem and force it to implement all UN resolutions.
