Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A senior government official said on Monday that the State is not considering issuing a public pardon, and has no intention to do so in the near future.
The statements came during a meeting between the official and several political figures in the country.
The last public pardon was issued in the Kingdom in the summer of 2011.
A special pardon was issued by Royal Decree in November 2011, releasing 46 prisoners of their remaining sentences in accordance with Article 38 of the Jordanian Constitution and Article 51 of the Penal Law No. 16 for year 1960.
Most of the 46 prisoners released were convicted on terrorism-related charges.
