Jordan beats Syria to make Asian Cup Qurterfinals

Ammon News - DOHA - The Jordanian National Football Team on Monday qualified for the AFC Asian Cup 2011 quarter-finals, after beating Syria 2-1.

Jordan's Al Nashama (Heroes) team ranked second in Group B with 7 points, after beating Saudi Arabia 1-0, drawing with Japan 1-1 and beating Syrian 2-1.

The national team will play against Uzbekistan on Friday January 21.

Meanwhile, His Majesty King Abdullah II on Monday congratulated the Jordan National Football Team for qualifying for the AFC Asian Cup 2011 quarter-finals after beating Syrian team 2-1.

In a telephone conversation with HRH Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, FIFA Vice-President for Asia, President of the Jordan Football Association (JFA ) and President of the West Asian Football Association and national football team coach Adnan Hamad, the King said he was proud over the achievements of the players.

The King also chatted with team leader Hatem Aqil and a number of players, and congratulated them over their heroic performance. He wished them good luck in the coming matches.
