98% of motorcycles pass safety checks in winter campaign
Head of the Traffic Institute, Lieutenant Colonel Ali Momani, said Saturday that 98% of motorcycles inspected under the winter campaign have passed safety checks so far, aimed at ensuring they are safe and fit for use on public roads.
Momani said the Public Security Directorate (PSD) launches the winter campaign annually ahead of the winter season to check vehicle roadworthiness and enhance traffic safety, particularly during winter weather conditions, as Al Mamlaka TV reported.
He urged motorcyclists to ensure their motorcycles are in proper condition, explaining that the campaign covers motorcycles across the Kingdom and includes general safety inspections.
Regarding noise caused by some motorcycles, particularly at night in residential neighborhoods, Al-Momani said inspections also include checking for sound amplifiers installed on exhaust systems, noting that such installations constitute a legal violation.
He added that the necessary legal measures would be taken against violators, including for any other violations detected beyond the items covered by the safety inspections, in accordance with the law.
