Investment Ministry launches prequalification for Mujib energy storage project
The Ministry of Investment has issued a prequalification invitation for the Mujib pumped-storage hydropower project.
The project will be implemented under the Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) model through a public-private partnership.
It aims to develop, finance, design, construct, own, operate and maintain a pumped-storage hydropower facility with a capacity of 450 megawatts.
The facility will be built next to Mujib Dam and will provide seven hours of electricity storage at full load by storing surplus electricity, particularly solar power generated during the day, and feeding it back into the grid during periods of high demand.
The project is expected to improve the flexibility of the electricity system, increase the use of renewable energy, strengthen energy security and reduce reliance on imported fuel.
