GAM tests beneficial bacteria to eliminate foul odors in Amman
The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) launched a pilot program using beneficial bacteria to reduce foul odors in Downtown Amman, the municipality announced on Sunday.
In its statement, the GAM said the biological treatment conducted by its Vector Control and Animal Care Department deploys 'eco-friendly' microorganisms to break down organic waste, the primary source of unpleasant smells, to significantly improve urban air quality.
Specialized teams are monitoring the field trial to assess its effectiveness before deciding the program expansion to cover additional neighborhoods.
The GAM stated the biological treatment complements GAM’s street cleaning and site maintenance operations, aimed at boosting overall environmental quality in the capital's 'historic' downtown core.
