Jordan’s Ouda Fakhouri will miss the friendly against Venezuela on October 6 after sitting out the national team’s final training session due to injury.
Fakhouri attended the session, part of which was open to the media, but remained on the bench without joining his teammates.
Head coach Badou Zaki later confirmed Fakhouri's injury.
Zaki did not disclose further details, saying only that it was linked to an injury Fakhouri sustained in Egypt, where he plays for Pyramids FC, before joining the national team camp.
Fakhouri joins goalkeeper Alec Smir and Yousef Abu Jalboush (Sisa) on the squad’s injury list.
Pyramids announced in early September that Fakhouri had suffered an ankle ligament injury during Egyptian league action. He returned after a rehabilitation programme and started Jordan’s previous match against Syria.
'A side issue'
Jordan will face Venezuela at 8 p.m. on October 6 at King Abdullah II Stadium in Qweismeh as part of preparations for the 2027 Asian Cup.
Asked about Venezuela leaving 12 players out of their squad, Zaki described it as 'a side issue,' stressing that those taking part would represent the senior national team, whether first-choice players or reserves.
The main changes to Jordan’s squad would come during the November international break, he said, explaining that the coaching staff had used the current camp to assess players and give as many as possible an opportunity.
Zaki declined to name the starting goalkeeper following Smir’s injury, reaffirming his confidence in Yazeed Abu Laila, Abdullah Al-Fakhouri and Ahmad Al-Juaidi.
