Traffic Department warns against driving distractions, sudden lane changes
Traffic Department Operations Room Officer Captain Musab Al-Marayat on Sunday warned drivers against using distractions while driving and changing lanes abruptly, urging them to follow traffic rules, respect right-of-way regulations, and give priority where required.
Al-Marayat said that distractions while driving are a leading cause of traffic accidents, as they prevent drivers from maintaining control of their vehicles when encountering any obstacle, regardless of speed.
He added that motorists should remain in their designated lanes and avoid sudden lane changes, as well as refrain from stopping or parking in critical locations and on roads where stopping could obstruct traffic flow.
Al-Marayat also called on citizens to report traffic-related observations through the Sanad application, noting that the Traffic Department handles such reports confidentially and in accordance with the law.
He further urged drivers to call 911 if their vehicles break down inside tunnels or on bridges, enabling traffic officers to reach the location quickly and deal with the situation efficiently.
