25,776 drug-related cases recorded in Jordan in 2025
The number of people apprehended in Jordan in cases involving drug possession, trafficking, use and promotion reached 25,776 last year, according to the annual report of the National Centre for Human Rights.
The report showed a decline in drug-related crimes in 2025 compared with 2024. A total of 15,720 drug possession and use offenses were recorded in 2025, compared with 25,919 in 2024, a decrease of about 39%.
Drug trafficking offenses also fell to 10,056 in 2025, compared with 12,863 in 2024, marking a decline of around 22%.
Overall, the number of possession, use and trafficking offenses listed in the report stood at 25,776 in 2025, compared with 38,782 in 2024, representing a decrease of approximately 34%.
The Centre noted the continued implementation of Jordan’s national strategic plan for drug prevention, as well as ongoing awareness, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation efforts by the Anti-Narcotics Department, particularly to protect young people and society at large.
The report also highlighted the launch of the awareness campaign 'Yes to Life… No to Drugs,' targeting young people and students at Yarmouk University to raise awareness of the dangers of drugs and ways to prevent their use.
It also noted the opening of a new expansion at the addiction treatment center at Birin Rehabilitation and Correctional Center, aimed at providing free and intensive recovery programs for inmates and enhancing the center’s capacity and capabilities.
