Israeli colonists storm Al-Aqsa Mosque under heavy police protection
Israeli colonists on Sunday stormed the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem under heavy protection from Israeli occupation police.
Local sources reported that around 240 colonists broke into the mosque compound through the Moroccan Gate, carrying out provocative tours and performing Talmudic rituals, as Israeli forces tightened military measures around the mosque and the Old City of Jerusalem.
Groups affiliated with the so-called “Temple organizations” had called on their supporters to participate widely in the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque and perform rituals inside the compound, under the pretext of marking the Jewish New Year.
Israeli occupation authorities exploit Jewish holidays to close roads and impose restrictions on Palestinian movement across the West Bank, including Jerusalem, worsening their daily hardships and further restricting freedom of worship, while facilitating the movement of Israeli colonists and confining Palestinians within their cities, villages and towns.
