Ministry begins implementation of pedestrian, bicycle paths on Airport Road
The Ministry of Public Works and Housing began on Saturday implementing a project to construct dedicated pedestrian and bicycle lanes along the left service road of Airport Road in Amman, with the works expected to continue for approximately 60 days until completion.
The ministry explained that the project requires the closure of part of the left service road, starting from after the Madaba Bridge to before the IKEA Jordan area, noting that the closure will be limited to the service road running parallel to the main highway.
It added that this measure is intended to minimize the impact on traffic, while ensuring the continued smooth flow of vehicles on the main road throughout the construction period.
In a previous press statement, the ministry said the project extends for nearly 400 meters and comes as part of efforts to enhance road safety and encourage active transportation, helping promote a culture of exercise and improve quality of life for road users.
