$125m US-Indian pipe factory for National Water Carrier Project
The Ministry of Water and Irrigation / Jordan Valley Authority announced on Wednesday the establishment of a pipe manufacturing plant backed by American-Indian investment worth $125 million to supply steel pipes for the National Water Carrier Project and other strategic national projects.
The ministry said the plant will be built in the Quweira Industrial Zone, which belongs to the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, on an area of 250 dunums.
It added that the project will create 450 jobs across various engineering and technical specialties, with 95 percent of the workforce to be Jordanian through an integrated training program.
The facility is expected to produce 500,000 tons of metal pipes.
The ministry said the plant will also manufacture the pipes required for the Risha gas transport project.
It concluded that the factory will export its products to regional and international markets, contributing to Jordan’s GDP and trade balance.
