The U.S. Secret Service is investigating reports of gunfire near the White House early Sunday.
Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said in a post: 'Shortly after midnight on April 5, 2026, Secret Service police officers responded to reports of gunfire in the vicinity of Lafayette Park. A thorough search of the park and the surrounding area was conducted, and no suspect was located. No injuries have been reported.'
Secret Service Police, in coordination with the Metropolitan Police Department and the U.S. Park Police, are actively seeking a possible vehicle and a person of interest. Our investigation is active, Guglielmi added.
He noted: 'While operations at the White House remain normal, a heightened security posture is in place. Road closures remain in effect in the area.'
