The value of bounced checks decreased last August to JD84 million, compared to JD109 million in July, representing 2.45% of the total value of checks in circulation.
According to statistics from the Jordan Payments and Clearing Company (JoPACC) and reviewed by Ammon, the total number of bounced checks in August reached 15,600, of which 64.8% were returned for financial reasons, amounting to JD54.6 million, and 35.2% were returned for technical reasons, amounting to JD29.6 million.
The number of checks in circulation last August decreased by 4.7%, to 525,000 checks, compared to 551,000 checks in July.
The total value of checks in circulation in Jordan in August reached JD3.44 billion, a decrease of 6.4% compared to July.
The value of checks in circulation in Jordan during the past eight months of 2025 amounted to JD26.7 billion.
It is noteworthy that the number of checks in circulation in Jordan last year amounted to 6.51 million, with a value of JD40.3 billion.
