Minister of Health Ibrahim Bdour on Tuesday morning carried out an unannounced inspection visit to the National Center for Mental Health, as he toured the center's various departments and closely examined the level of services provided at its diagnostic and psychological treatment clinics.
He also inspected the judicial department, which is designated for patients referred by judicial authorities.
Bdour affirmed the ministry's commitment to providing quality mental health services that are appropriate to the patient's condition, emphasizing that mental health care is a national priority no less important than the other pillars of the healthcare system.
During the visit, the Minister met with patients and listed their comments. He also heard from the center's medical and administrative staff, highlighting the most significant challenges facing their work in the field of mental health.
Bdour also said that a 'comprehensive review' of psychiatric and mental health services will be conducted to enhance technical and medical capabilities as part of a comprehensive strategy that takes into account the therapeutic, legal, and humanitarian dimensions of patients.
