Netanyahu fires spokesman, reportedly amid spats with Sara Netanyahu
Occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fired his spokesperson, Omer Dostri, just before the premier departs for Washington to meet with US President Donald Trump.
Initial reports of Dostri’s firing on Saturday cited unnamed sources close to the prime minister. Dostri’s departure from the role was later confirmed in a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office on Saturday evening, but the statement said Dostri “informed the prime minister of his intention to end his role and embark on a new path.”
According to Channel 13, Dostri, who had been Netanyahu’s spokesperson for the past year, was leaving his position immediately because of a series of conflicts with the prime minister’s wife, Sara Netanyahu.
A source with knowledge of the details also told The Times of Israel that Sara Netanyahu’s attitude toward Dostri played a role in him stepping down.
Her involvement in the appointments of high-ranking officials has been widely reported.
In a statement Sunday, however, Netanyahu’s office denied Sara had anything to do with Dostri’s departure. Times of Israel
