Senate President receives Integrity Commission report, calls for stronger oversight
Senate President Faisal Fayez on Tuesday received the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission’s annual report for 2024 from Commission Chairman Muhannad Hijazi.
Fayez emphasized the importance of close partnership and cooperation among oversight bodies to safeguard public funds, prevent financial and administrative violations, and address potential errors proactively. He highlighted the need to adopt international best practices and indicators for auditing and monitoring, while raising public awareness about the importance of protecting public money.
He called for continuous development of the Commission’s work, the enhancement of its oversight tools, and swift action to resolve any irregularities, with the aim of improving Jordan’s standing on global integrity and anti-corruption indices.
Commending the Commission’s role in promoting integrity and combating corruption, Fayez reaffirmed the Senate’s support and commitment to removing legislative barriers that may hinder its efforts. He added that the report will be referred to the relevant Senate committees for discussion and action on its recommendations, in line with the Council’s constitutional oversight responsibilities.
For his part, Hijazi reviewed the Commission’s achievements over the past year in protecting public funds and tackling financial and administrative corruption. He outlined recent efforts to integrate artificial intelligence into the Commission’s digital transformation and development processes.
