AMMONNEWS - The Lower House Financial Committee led by House Speaker Atef Tarawneh, met with Prime Minister Omar Al Razzaz and members of the government's economic team in the presence of Head of the Committee Khalid Bakakar.

The meeting came at the conclusion of the financial committee's meetings with various parties within its discussion of the draft laws of the general budget and the budget of the government units for the year 2019, and before preparing its report on the draft laws and presenting it to the deputies.

Tarawneh called on the government to accelerate the process of reducing prices of basic consumer goods, stressing the House's keenness to expand the items covered by the general pardon law, including violations and student loans in line with the royal directives to alleviate the pressure on citizens.

He stressed the need to enter into a real partnership with the private sector starting next year to meet the need of the Jordanian state in building schools, hospitals and roads, and agree on all details in preparation for the start of implementation in 2020.

Prime Minister Omar Razzaz said that the government will send the general pardon law to the Lower House within the next few days after it was approved by the cabinet last Wednesday, pointing out that the government and deputies are partners and seek to alleviate the pressure on citizens in light of the difficult conditions.

He explained that the government sought through the general budget law and the budget of government units for the year 2019, to achieve three principles. These include linking items to priorities by reviewing the impact of each item on the citizen, focusing on partnership with the private sector in terms of capital investments, in addition to ensuring continuity of financial stability by reducing deficit and indebtedness.
