AMMONNEWS - The Jordanian-Egyptian Technical Committee for Land Transport signed on Thursday an agreement between the two countries to reduce the fees paid for trucks entering into the two states.

In his statement, Secretary-General of the Jordanian Ministry of Transportation Anmar Alkhasawneh said that the agreement entailed reducing the fees paid annually for trucks entering into Egypt or Jordan, for a number of tours, from 1,000 JOD to 600 JOD. While for only one tour, the fees are reduced from 300 JOD to 100 JOD, he added.

Alkhasawneh pointed out that Egypt agreed on several demands related to the transportation field between Jordan and Egypt as well as facilitating the process for Jordan, which includes reviewing the fees imposed on Jordan.

Meanwhile, Alkhasawneh emphasized that opening the Jordanian-Iraqi borders will alleviate pressure on Egypt. It will also open new outlets for transportation between Jordan, world countries and the Arab region.
