AMMONNEWS - Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Janet Napolitano arrived in Jordan today for a two day visit. Secretary Napolitano will meet with her Jordanian Government counterparts and other senior-level officials to discuss cooperation on issues related to combating human trafficking, enhancing information sharing and securing international travel and shipping.
While in Jordan, Secretary Napolitano will deliver remarks highlighting contributions of women at the Department of Homeland Security and the next generation of leadership to address the complex challenges facing the United States. .
Secretary Napolitano will also sign a Memorandum of Cooperation between the U.S. Transportation Security Administration and the Jordanian Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission, which will facilitate the exchange of information and technical assistance between the two countries to strengthen aviation security.
Janet Napolitano is the third Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. As such she is responsible for counterterrorism; border security; immigration enforcement; disaster preparedness; and response and recovery efforts in the United States. Before her appointment, Napolitano was Governor of the State of Arizona.
