Ammon News - Constitutional law expert and former minister Dr. Nofan Ajarmah called for the enactment of an effective law criminalizing hate speech, with precise legal safeguards to protect freedom of opinion and expression.
Commenting on the terrorist attack carried out by individuals described as takfiri extremists against a church in Humud village in Karak, Ajarmah said that combating religious extremism begins with tackling hate speech, which fuels ideological terrorism and paves the way for the spread of extremism and violence.
He added that the government has a responsibility to take the initiative to enact an effective law criminalizing hate speech, within precise legal safeguards that guarantee freedom of opinion and expression while preventing their misuse to incite hatred and violence.
