PSD warns of scammers impersonating security officers

05-10-2026 12:40 PM

Ammon News - The Public Security Directorate (PSD) has renewed its warning against scammers impersonating security officers through calls on electronic applications to obtain personal information and steal money.

The PSD spokesperson said the Cybercrime Unit continues to receive complaints over video and voice calls from people claiming to be security officers.

The scammers ask victims to provide personal documents and information and tell them to report to security authorities the following day. They then use the information to access accounts or steal funds before victims realize they have been defrauded.

The spokesperson urged citizens to exercise caution when receiving calls from unknown numbers and not to respond to anyone claiming through electronic applications to represent security agencies, stressing that security authorities do not use such methods in investigations or when summoning individuals.

Citizens were also urged not to share personal information over calls and to immediately report suspicious calls through the unified emergency number 911, the Cybercrime Unit or Criminal Investigation Department offices at the nearest security center.
