Ammon News - More than 211,000 people have participated in the Urdunna Jannah (Our Jordan is Paradise) domestic tourism program since its launch, according to program director Ahmad Al-Rifai.
Speaking on Sunday, Al-Rifai said the program is continuously updated through the addition of new destinations and by incorporating feedback from participants.
Regarding industry participation, he noted that 141 tourism offices have benefited from the program, along with 6,654 buses and tour guides, 115 restaurants, and 106 accommodation establishments.
The Ministry of Tourism aims to increase participation to 220,000 beneficiaries under the program.
More than 83,000 participants have taken part in overnight-stay packages, generating a total of 85,000 overnight stays.
The initiative seeks to boost domestic tourism and encourage Jordanians to explore destinations across the Kingdom through subsidized and diverse travel experiences tailored to different groups. The program aims to reach around 220,000 beneficiaries in 2026, with a focus on increasing visits to lesser-known destinations and supporting areas most affected by declining visitor numbers due to current regional developments, particularly Petra.
The revamped program also plans to expand participation by local businesses to more than 400 projects, including restaurants, hotels, and tourism experiences, in support of the local economy. It will feature more than 60 tourism itineraries covering different regions of Jordan.
New features include direct booking through the program platform and the option to participate using private vehicles in subsidized tourism experiences. Eligibility has also been expanded to include Arab and international university students studying in Jordan, residents from Gaza living in the Kingdom, and children of Jordanian mothers and their spouses.
The program is implemented in partnership with tourism offices, tour guides, hotels, camps, tourism transport providers, and handicraft shops, helping sustain the tourism sector, strengthen its readiness amid regional challenges, and support local communities.
The Ministry of Tourism subsidizes up to 60% of trip costs, with packages including free transportation on modern buses, professional tour guides, and meals. The program also organizes monthly events and festivals across all governorates, featuring cultural activities, bazaars, and local products to stimulate tourism and economic activity.
