External Patrols catch two vehicles speeding over 200 km/h

28-09-2026 08:44 AM

Ammon News - The External Patrols Department recorded two vehicles traveling at extreme speeds on the Zarqa–Azraq highway over the past 24 hours, with one clocked at more than 200 km/h and the other at 203 km/h, despite the road's posted speed limit of 100 km/h.

Captain Ahmad Al-Shatti, Operations Officer at the External Patrols Department, said on Monday that traffic on external roads remains active and flowing smoothly, with no significant obstacles reported.

The Irbid–Amman highway is witnessing heavy traffic from the capital toward the northern governorates and moderate traffic in the opposite direction, while the Development Corridor Road is experiencing strong traffic flow in both directions.

On the Desert Highway, traffic heading toward Aqaba from Ras Al-Naqab was moderate, while traffic in the opposite direction was generally light but occasionally became active. Meanwhile, the Zamilah area recorded moderate traffic in both directions.

During the same period, external patrols responded to a three-vehicle collision beneath Al-Ghabawi Bridge on the Mafraq–Amman highway. Authorities cleared the vehicles and obstacles and reopened the road to traffic.

Al-Shatti urged motorists using external roads to adhere to speed limits and designated lanes and to avoid distractions, particularly mobile phones. He noted that patrol units remain deployed to assist road users and can be reached by calling 911.
