Ammon News - The number of visitors to Dar As.Saraya Museum in Irbid increased by 44.1% during the first seven months of 2026 (January–July), compared with the same period in 2025.

According to preliminary data from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the total number of visitors, both Jordanians and foreigners, reached approximately 5,545 by the end of July 2026, compared with 3,847 visitors recorded during the same period last year.

An analytical comparison of the statistics showed that Jordanian visitors were the main driver of the increase in museum visits. Their number rose by 46.67%, reaching 5,352 visitors during the first seven months of 2026, compared with 3,649 during the corresponding period of 2025.

As for foreign visitors, their numbers recorded a slight 2.5% decline, with 193 visitors recorded through the end of July 2026, compared with 198 during the same period in 2025.

The museum is located on the southern slope of the ancient Irbid archaeological mound, in one of the city's oldest heritage buildings. Dating to the Ottoman period, the building was constructed in 1886 along the historic Hajj route to Syria. It consists of two floors with northern and southern entrances. A stone inscription in Arabic above the southern entrance bears the date of its construction, according to the Jordan Tourism Board's website.

The museum houses a collection of archaeological artifacts discovered at sites across Irbid Governorate. It consists of seven galleries surrounding an open courtyard containing large stone artifacts, including sarcophagi, capitals, columns and presses, reflecting the city's cultural, artistic and civilizational activity throughout the ages.
