Army Chief: Operational readiness key to protecting borders, national security

Ammon News - Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordan Armed Forces- Arab Army (JAF) Maj. Gen. Majdi Al Harasis said on Wednesday that maintaining the highest levels of operational readiness is a key priority to protect the Kingdom's borders and bolster national security and stability.

The newly-appointed army chief spoke as he inspected the 12th Royal Border Guard Battalion, a frontline defense unit assigned to the 2nd Border Guard Brigade, which functions under the command of the Northern Military Zone, where he was welcomed by its commander.

Al Harasis stressed the need to constantly raise competence, professionalism and readiness levels to enhance the JAF capacity to carry out assigned tasks and duties with efficiency and proficiency.

The army chief was updated on the battalion's missions and duties, operational, training, and logistical matters as well as plans and programs to boost combat readiness and enhance the capabilities of its personnel in handling various challenges and circumstances.

During his visit, Al Harasis also toured a military exhibition showcasing weapons, equipment, vehicles, and gear used by Border Guard units, where he was briefed on their deployment to protect borders and enhance the units' mission-execution capabilities.

He stressed the need to continue developing capabilities and maintaining peak operational readiness, given the nature of the tasks assigned to Border Guard units in order to enhance their capacity to address various challenges efficiently and effectively.

The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff met with the battalion’s personnel in the attendance of senior JAF officers, and conveyed the greetings and pride of His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander.

He commended their morale, discipline, and professionalism, as well as their efforts in protecting the country's borders and confronting any attempt to undermine its security and resources.
