Ammon News - Ministry of Water and Irrigation has detected several water violations, including removal of two illegal 2-inch pipelines in Amman's Muwaqqar district, used to illegally fill water tankers.

The ministry also backfilled 4 illegal wells in Al-Rama and Suwayma areas in central Balqa governorate, which were used to sell water to chalets and farms, and confiscated parts for an illegal drilling rig in Houara area in Irbid governorate.

In a statement issued Sunday, the ministry said the crackdown, in cooperation with relevant authorities, uncovered a violation on Manja water pipeline, southern Amman, involving the connection of a 3-inch pipeline to supply "large" agricultural ponds, farms, and a nursery.

Additionally, a 1-inch pipeline was discovered in Sahab district used to supply a car wash and a residential and commercial complex. 3 illegal pipelines were found in Amman's Na'ur for supplying homes and water collection wells.

The ministry affirmed its technical teams have begun removing all detected encroachments and disconnecting illegal water mains.

In this context, the teams also prepared reports for each incident to complete legal procedures against the violators and refer perpetrators to the competent judicial authorities.

During the campaign, the ministry uncovered thefts of manhole covers in Sahab area.

The ministry commended the "significant" efforts made by the Public Security Directorate (PSD) and its units, citing the citizens' support for the campaign, which is a "key" pillar in the success of steps to protect water resources.

The ministry affirmed its continued "intensive" efforts and application of the law against violators, which would reduce encroachments and protect water resources nationwide.
