Ammon News - Initial Hajj registration for Jordanians and residents of the Gaza Strip residing in the Kingdom will begin next Sunday through Sunday, September 27, Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohammad Khalayleh, announced.

In a statement Wednesday, Khalayleh stated registration will be made online through the Hajj registration platform, urging the target groups, who meet the requirements, to register within the specified period.

Khalayleh noted that registration requires a payment of JD200 for the primary applicant only, which is refundable after the registration period ends at a date to be set by the Hajj and Umrah Department, adding that accompanying persons are exempt from paying this amount.

He noted that payment can be made via "eFAWATEERcom" service, or by visiting any branch of the Jordan Islamic Bank or Safwa Islamic Bank.

On eligibility criteria, he said registration requirements for this Hajj season entail that the primary applicant must have been born on or before December 31, 1980, and must not have previously performed piligrimage.

He added that groups selected for Hajj will be required to submit a medical certificate issued by the Ministry of Health, confirming the candidate is free from the specified diseases, in accordance with instructions of Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

According to the instructions, these disqualifying diseases are failure of a major organ, neurological and psychiatric diseases, old age accompanied by dementia, pregnancy in the last two months, or any stage of high-risk expectancy, active cancer and infectious diseases that affect public health.

Regarding people who have saved with Hajj Fund, Khalaileh said savers with a balance sheet at JD3,000 ahead of January 1, 2021, are eligible to register through the Hajj Fund's website.

He noted that the fund's savers are exempt from paying any fees upon registration.

The minister urged applicants to adhere to the conditions and instructions and register within the specified timeframe.
